I am super guilty of saying “I don’t have time for ________” when what I really should say is “I didn’t/won’t make time for _____.” We all have the same 24 hours each day. If you want to do something, and you consider it important, make time for it.
Here is one small adjustment I have been trying to make in order to “make time” for school, side projects, fun etc.
Drumroll please (badumdumdumdumdumdumdumdum…..)
Wake up earlier. Know when you need to wake up in order to be on time, then make an effort to wake up well before that time. Two disclaimers:
1. I know I am fortunate that getting up at 7 on a week day is “before I need to”
2. This doesn’t always happen (just ask my wife, Zack or Simo), but overall I have loved the extra time each day.
What are some changes you have made in order to “make time” for things you want to accomplish?

I, too, awaken at 7 to allow enough time to read every morning. The short commute helps, too.
I love this, Jon. I had to remind myself of this about a year or two ago when I was constantly finding myself saying, “I don’t have enough time to…” and then I was sitting around watching LOST on Tuesday nights, The Office on Thursday nights, and any other random TV that came on during the week. You’re absolutely right, I was choosing those things over what I was claiming not to have enough time for.
Now I’m almost stuck in the opposite – I have TOO much time and I’m not making very good use of it. Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for making me a friend of your blog
