My predictions/dreams for Tottenham Hotspur this season

Heading in to the 25-26 Premier League season, my thoughts on the Spurs are summed up as “could be better; could be worse.” Given that my favorite coach in recent memory and favorite player of all time left the team this summer, I consider this a decent place to be heading into opening weekend. Given all this past summer has entailed, if you had told me before the Super Cup that we would lose to PSG in penalties, I would be thrilled.

On Soccer and Catechesis

Catechizing my children as Spurs supporters is basically parallel to their catechesis into the Christian way: Both are a citizenship that leads to some daily joys and many momentary sorrows. For both, the true reward is mostly found on a distant shore. That is, when the spurs saints go marching in. Neither are solely achieved through reading a book. But both involve the ever-increasing embodiment of a story. If I don’t fully embrace either of these myself, there is zero earthly reason for my children to do the same.

Today, it was finally announced that the new USL Super League team in Dallas is in fact in Dallas. Excited to see Dallas Trinity FC develop as a team in the months to come, and looking forward to seeing them at the Cotton Bowl this fall.

The result was there in the end, and it was thrilling attacking soccer as promised. Three goals within ten minutes of the second half kickoff. What a dream first season under Ange.

It turns out this isn’t the first time that Ange’s first season at a new club has resulted in a host of hamstring injuries. I guess it makes sense that high-line front-footed Angeball takes some getting used to!
